Jnathan:

if you want more details, you research www.prc.gov.ph. regarding the application requiremnts or contact for Arlene of Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners, Inc. (02)-9209705. Arlene can also guide you re: the review materials. I think PIEP still conducts a review session only here in Metro Manila. As a matter of fact, there were examiners from Davao on 2006 went here just to attend the review session. And that really helped me passed the exam. beause I need to orient my self to the land use planning aspect of the exam. Very broad ang scope, from land use, eia, economic, agri, natural resources, secruity, etc...........

try to get in touch with me at ibascoallan@yahoo.com if you want some advice.

Jonathan,

There is an Environmental Planning course offered at Mirriam College (formerly Marryknoll College) - Quezon City. UP's School of Urban and Regional Planning also offers a graduate course related to that discipline. However, if your purpose of taking that course is just to take the board exam., I think its no longer needed as long as u posses atleast two years of direct environmental planning experience or atleast you ahev a masters degree in any environmental science related disciplines and one year of direct environmental planning experience. Environmental planning experince refers mainly to being a preparer of Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CL:UPS) or Environmental Impact Assessments or anything you think is environmetal planning realted activity.

I am also a graduate of envi. scie. from a state university here in Metro Manila, and i was qualified to take the board on June 2006 using the former as ground for my qualification (2 years related planning experience). I have a 36 units in a graduate program for envi. management, but i did not use that as basis because what the PRC or the environmental planning law requires is a degree. If were you, the easiest way to be quailified to take the exam is to earn a direct planning experince (at least 2 years). try to apply in environmental consultancy firms engaged in the preparation fo CLUPs or EIAs. Or if you want to take the longer route, take a masters degree and earn a year of planning experience.

Taking the board exam is not that easy because you need to qualify first / satisy the requirements of PRC, whcih is way beyond the qualifications of other board exam applications.

Good Luck.
